"We
had a great trip. We left San Diego on January 20, 2002, and
arrived in La Paz, Feb. 8. We had a real shakedown cruise
after we left Ensenada in very rough seas, and again going
into Bahia Santa Maria and on the night passage from there
to Cabo San Lucas. The little tug is strong and did really
well. We saw lots of whales as they were migrating down right
along with us. We traded 2 T-shirts and 4 packs of M&Ms
and a can of Spam for 12 lobsters. (Ed. Note - Try that offer
at your local Safeway.) What a great adventure!
We
spent the next month cruising the islands and anchorages north
of La Paz. We then left our boat at Marina de La Paz and returned
home for a month. We left La Paz on April 10 and worked our
way north to San Carlos, enjoying the many lovely islands
and coves of the Sea of Cortez.
San
Carlos is a very nice safe harbor from the hurricanes of summer.
There are 2 very nice marinas. We opted for Marina Real as
it is quieter. . . there is a 37' Nordic Tug there too. We
spent some time in the San Carlos area, snorkeling and fishing
for Dorado. We hired a Mexican fellow to clean the bottom
and wash the boat for us on a regular basis until we return
to San Carlos in October.
We
love our Tug and had a great trip.. We found that at about
1200rpm we used about 1.5 to 1.75gph of fuel and cruised 7-8
knots. We have traveled over 4,000nm. We will spend some more
time in the Sea of Cortez this winter and maybe cruise down
the mainland coast."
